Body Wall of Earthworm
- Body wall is the protective cover of the body and also helps in respiration and movements
- Body wall is composed of four layers
- Cuticle: Outermost, thin, non-cellular and made up of collagen fibre
- Epidermis: Made up of columnar epithelium, It contain secretory glands cells and sensory cells
- Muscular layer: Circular and longitudinal. These help in movement
- Coelom: filled with alkaline whitish fluid, It consists of water, salts, proteins and granulocyte
- Functions of body wall
- Maintains the shape of the body
- Protects the body from mechanical injuries
- Body wall provides protection from harmful germs
