• It is commonly known as king-crab and is a marine arthropod
• Body is comprised of cephalothorax and abdomen
• Cephalothorax (prosoma) is broad, covered by horse shoe shaped carapace
• Abdomen comprises of six segments and bear 6 pairs of flattened and plate-like appendages
• First pair of appendage is united to form a genital operculum
• Remaining five pairs bear book gills for respiration
• Excretion through coxal glands
• Development through trilobite larva
