Obelia Characteristics

They are marine animal and belong to the Hydrozoa class.
They are colonial organism, meaning it consists of multiple individuals called polyps connected to each other.
The body of Obelia is cylindrical in shape and can grow up to several centimeters in length.
The structure of its body is transparent and gelatinous in nature.
Obelia polyps have a tubular structure with a mouth surrounded by tentacles used for feeding.
In tentacles of Obelia, have stinging cells called nematocysts, which are used to capture prey.
Obelia colonies are usually found attached to rocks or other kinds of substrates.
These organisms use their tentacles to filter smaller organisms and organic particles out of the water.
They reproduces both sexually and asexually. Asexual reproduction occurs through budding, where new polyps grow from the parent polyp.
They are reproduce sexually, Obelia releases its eggs and sperm into the water, resulting in the formation of larvae that eventually settle and develop into new polyps.
